What exactly is The Food Club?
The Food Club is set up like a traditional Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. At the start of each season, market gardeners such as ourselves sell a share of the harvest to help fund the seasons early expenses. In exchange for your support, you are provided with a box of fresh, local and Certified Naturally Grown produce each week!
Why Should I join?
Supporting our market garden by joining The Food Club is one of the most direct ways you can help cultivate a vibrant local agricultural community. Often, produce in large grocery stores is shipped from across the country or abroad instead of being purchased from a grower just down the road. With your support, we can provide you with fresh, local produce throughout the growing season!
How long does a subscription to the food club last?
Both share options of The Food Club extends through twenty weeks of the season, beginning in mid May and ending in late September. When you join, we will provide you with the exact dates and times.
What can i expect in each Weekly box?
Each week The Food Club boxes are filled with a diversity of vegetables. We work hard to keep a variety of five to eight items in each box, per week. A short list of some of the crops we are growing this season include:
Arugula, Beets, Carrots, Eggplant, Kale, Lettuce, Melons, Okra, Peppers, Salad Mix, Tomatoes, Winter Squash and Zucchinis, to name just a few. Pictures of every share we offered in the 2018 season are available through our social media account linked at the bottom of this page.
The food club membership loyalty program:
As a way of saying thank you for joining, we are offering a Food Club membership loyalty program. That means if you join this year and we raise our membership prices in 2020, you will be guaranteed the 2019 price for as long as you remain a member. This offer is good for returning subscribers who are receiving the same type of share as they did in the year(s) prior.
What does it cost?
The “Farmers’ Choice” share is $450 when paid up front for a full season.
Quarterly payment plans of $115 each are also an option, if that’s better for you!
The “Custom” share is $500 when paid up front for a full season.
Quarterly payments of $128 each are also available.
Your payment is accepted as a commitment to a twenty week subscription to The Food Club. All payments can be easily managed through the Farmigo platform. Cancellations are available upon request; they require two weeks notice and a $50 cancellation fee in order to receive a refund on the remainder of the subscription.
Anything else I should know?
To recap, for the 2019 season, we joined a platform called Farmigo- which allows us to offer you a classic “Farmers’ Choice” share option, or a completely “Custom” share, where you pick out each produce item you receive from our updated weekly inventory. This platform also allows us to provide payment plans instead of requiring each member to pay for the entire season up front. So, if month to month payments work better for you... we are happy to say you now have that option! Anyone who joins The Food Club will be able to log in to the Farmigo platform and select which type of share they want to receive, easily set up their preferred payment method, and add special orders if they’d like to stock up on produce for a party, canning, or any other reason under the sun. Joining Farmigo is really exciting for our market garden because it provides more options for you, and streamlines the process of doing so for us, a real win win scenario!
The fine print
If you have another commitment and cannot make it to your share pickup point, please provide us with 48 hours notice. Food waste is a major concern of ours and we would love to arrange for someone else to receive the share if you are unable to pickup. Missing your pickup without notice does not entitle you to an additional pickup at another time. Our days are extremely busy and we cannot modify the schedule to fit a personalized harvest to make up your missed share. Much like paying to see a performance at the theatre... the show must go on, even if another engagement kept you from being there. We apologize for the inconvenience and hope you understand!
